LASS-Specific First-Year Experience Course

Building School and Departmental Connections for the First Year Student is a first-year experience course team taught by LASS faculty and Academic Staff, with one group session and one discipline-specific session per week. The curriculum was developed by a team of LASS faculty, and will proceed through the normal curriculum channels to become a permanent part of the school’s course offerings. The course not only encourages students to make lasting connections with faculty, staff and other students, but also stimulates their intellectual growth, highlighting the critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills that are the foundations of a liberal education. Things learned in this course will serve the student well as s/he progresses through the programs in the School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
