CLO
110 Use Policy
Approved by the FLL faculty on March 12,
2003
The Foreign Language Studio is intended
for instructional use that requires the special
international hardware and software that is unique
to CLO 110. Reservation
of the Studio is on a tiered first-come, first-served basis
(see below). To ensure everyone has equal opportunity,
we have set reservation start dates for each
semester at two months before the first day of
the semester. Requests
that come in during these two months will have
priority over requests that come in later. We
will resolve time conflicts
among the requests sent in during this reservation
period according to these guidelines:
In the past the Foreign Language Studio
has been available for ad hoc reservations by student organizations
or special course projects in LASS courses, primarily after
the beginning of the semester. This practice is being discontinued.
The use of the Studio has increased to a point where it
is difficult to use it in this manner without disrupting
the original intent of the Studio, which is to provide
a unique international multimedia venue for FLL students.
We will try to be equitable across
FLL courses and instructors. Thus, an instructor who has
recently requested blocks of time for a subject might be
asked to make adjustments when there are schedule conflicts.
Individuals requiring access to a
conventional A/V classroom are
encouraged to seek access to university resources. (Please
contact Academic Facilities Management or
Audio/Visual)
To reserve the studio, please fill
out the online Studio Reservation
form. This
form is used
to make a reservation, ensure
that the appropriate software is available
for the class and that the facility will
accommodate specific teaching needs.
If the form is not completed appropriately,
the IMC can not assure that the studio
will meet your class needs and you
will be directed to Academic Facilities
Management or Audio/Visual.
All who wish to reserve the Foreign
Language Studio must attend an orientation given by the
IMC Director or the IMC Coordinator or their reservation
will be cancelled. Orientations last from 10 to 20
minutes and cover basic studio rules, special equipment,
problem reporting, and other pertinent information. Changes
in technology and procedures produce new information that
is most easily transmitted during orientations. Workstation
configurations, operating systems, and software versions
can change. To schedule an appointment for orientation
contact the IMC Director or the IMC Coordinator before
the start of each semester.
We will only accept reservation requests
by faculty members:
If you are not comfortable with these
obligations, we invite
you to contact Academic Facilities Management
or Audio/Visual to discuss alternate accommodations.
