Diane Nicole Huntington Memorial Scholarship

Diane Nicole Huntington was a student in the School of Education at Purdue University Calumet until her untimely death in December 2004. Her passion and commitment to teaching elementary students was evident in her interactions with peers, faculty, and students. Diane was an honor student, and she won the Stark-Tinkham Writing Contest for a children’s poem in Spring 2004. Diane’s family and friends chose to honor her exceptional life by creating a scholarship in her name.

Applications are now available for the $1000 Diane Nicole Huntington Memorial Scholarship in Elementary Education for the 2010—2011

Academic Year Eligibility: All full-time Elementary Education majors of junior or higher standing

Forms and instructions for completing and submitting the application are available in the Teacher Preparation Office (Gyte Annex 151).

The scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who best demonstrates a passion and a commitment for teaching elementary students. Although GPA is a consideration, the applications will be judged primarily on qualities that the applicant demonstrates such as: their interactions with others, especially elementary children; the actions and attitudes they exhibit in the university and elementary classroom; and the excitement they exhibit toward learning.
